who else but THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS?
“token back to brooklyn”
and they covered girlie-pop-punk act cub’s “new york city” at one point as well which is a mighty spiff song as well…
“7th avenue static” by firewater
“downtown train” by tom waits (yes covered by rod stewart, ick) talks about the subway cars being full of “all those brooklyn girls”...
one of the new tom waits CDs (blood money) also has “coney island girl”...

well, Lou Reed. I mean he named an entire cd “New York”
Old 97s—Broadway (and there are others but I can’t think of the titles because I suck).

Well, there’s “New York, New York” by Ryan Adams. And “New York, New York” by the late great Frank Sinatra. And “59th Street Bridge Song” by Simon and Garfunkel. And “No Sleep Til Brooklyn” by the Beasties. Ummmmm. I know there’s a disco song from the late 70’s but I can’t remember it.

and “Walking Down Madison” by Kirsty MacColl and Johnny Marr. “Statue of Liberty” by Laurie Anderson. Although I can’t remember how that goes.

I ain’t a fan of much jazz, but I’m sure there is motherload of songs about New York there. (I tried to like it, I really did).

oh christ, that song. “In a New York Minute…” the only time I enjoyed that song is when they used it as a love theme between Ross and his monkey on Friends.
