I’ll let him explain the process. There is one HOT image of my contorted face. Oh my.

    These were all shot on Tri-X at 1600 and processed in Diafine. They generally look pretty good for having been pushed two stops, and I like the look when it’s good. There are a ton of shots, though, that are painfully flat due to even light… The awesomeness of this process for certain lighting is a very good excuse for me to start carrying TWO cameras with me everywhere ;)

    That middle image is unbelievably disturbing. Maddie, I know nothing about photography either. I just know what moves me or looks good. I hear ya. Great light.

    photo #1 is lovely. photo #2 would be lovely except you are making the comic strip drunk face. You should have little stars and bubbles around your head and the word Hiccup.

    Basically, I’m shooting these with very little light hitting the film by lying to the camera and telling it that the film is 8x more sensitive than it is.

    Then, I use a developer that works really hard to extract any information stored on the film.

    I end up with nicely grainy shots with some weird characteristics. I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks and have a handful of stuff to process. Thus far I’ve processed three rolls and most shots were flat and dull. We’ll see what the other rolls have in store soon.

    Yeah, all the bw stuff I do. I drop color rolls at C-Lab.

    Though, I did buy michele arguably the worst christmas gift EVER last year—a really nice photo printer. it just sits in our storage room, untouched. I still owe her a real present.

    It’s not the worst gift ever. It’s just really hard to figure out. The color tweaking seems to be too much of a feat to try and conquer. Though, now that the computer isn’t in that back room, should you move to the room it resides in now, I might touch it more often. I hated being in that small room. :]
