Is This Your Name?
posted by mihow on September 28th, 2005
If you or anyone you know well has any of the following names and would like to take part in a very short interview please kindly send me an email at michele at this domain dot com.
Audrey, Agnes, Anita, Allen, Alicia, Andrew, Allison, Betsy, Beulah, Bob, Connie, Carla, Cleo, Carol, Camille, Celia, Carmen, Cesar, Charley, Diane, Donna, Dora, David, Diana, Edna, Eloise, Elena, Flora, Fifi, Frederic, Fran, Floyd, Fabian, Frances, Gracie, Gloria, Gilbert, Georges, Hazel, Hattie, Hilda, Hugo, Hortense, Ione, Inez, Iris, Isidore, Isabel, Ivan, Janet, Joan, Juan, Jeanne, Klaus, Keith, Luis, Lenny, Lili, Marilyn, Mitch, Michelle, Opal, Roxanne
I’ll explain at a later date. I promise. Ideally, I would like to find one person per name. If you can help me make that happen, I won’t let you down.
Edited to Add: If you wrote me below or via email, and haven’t received a follow-up message yet, please let me know. Basically, I need the contact information of the names listed (phone number or email). I am going to conduct a brief interview with them. Hopefully, they are still interested.
Assuming I get every name folks gave, I only need 18 more people! Thank you everyone. I’ll update more on Monday after I receive more contact information.

Yet again, the Internet is proving to be helpful. Thanks for that. I have received several emails that include names of people. I really, really want to get them all if possible. So please, pretend I haven’t ever asked for anything before and help me seek them out. If you know of anyone, let me know. :] I’m begging—Internet style.

I fear that Hortense and Ione might prove impossible.
September 28th, 2005 at 12:23 PM
I know an Anita, Andrew, Connie & Frances (mother & daughter), and 2 Donna’s.
September 28th, 2005 at 12:28 PM
Excellent! Julie, can you email me so I have your email?
September 28th, 2005 at 01:44 PM
are you picky with spelling? i had a fourth grade teacher who insisted on spelling my name “charley.” my father once spelled my name “charley” and i said “it’s not spelled that way” and he responded “i named you. i can spell it however i like.”

Roxanne is my mom’s name.
September 28th, 2005 at 03:11 PM
My boss just had a baby named Isadora. But not Isidore. If I ever have a girl, her name may be Isabelle. Not helpful, I know.
September 28th, 2005 at 03:43 PM

I’m going to send people information tomorrow or the next day. this post will stay up as I search for more people. thanks everyone for making this easier. Keep ‘em coming. Don’t be shy. Hi Michele, I read your blog all the time, love it, hardly ever comment, but this is fun one. I know a Hazel, Hilda, Lily (spelling is different, is that ok?), Allison, Joan, Betsy, Allen; and I know of a Carol on the internet (she writes a blog).
September 28th, 2005 at 07:13 PM
Ok, I just realized I should email this to you. Will do.
September 28th, 2005 at 07:23 PM

does Alison with one L count?
September 28th, 2005 at 07:48 PM
Unfortunately, as much as I wish it did, for this project, I don’t think it will. My name is Michele with one L. And as much as I wish I could take part i don’t think I can. Given the sensitivity of the material, I think it has to be spot-on. However, please email me anyway as I’d like to include you in on the story behind why I am asking and why the spelling of your name might not won’t work for this. You folks are the best.

For the first time (and probably last) in my life I wish my name were Hortense.
I knew an Ione in university. I have absolutely no inkling where she is today. Sorry.
